Mechanical Under the hood of our Lincoln is the tried-and-true Ford 400 cubic inch V8 engine that provides plenty of horsepower and torque and a 4-speed Automatic Overdrive Transmission (AOD) which had been developed and was an industry-first transmission that featured both a mechanically-engaged overdrive fourth gear and third and fourth-gear torque converter lock-up.
