Vehicle Description 1973 Dodge Charger 400 Car History The Dodge Charger (B-body) is a mid-size automobile that was produced by Dodge from 1966 to 1978 and was based on the Chrysler B platform.
The 1973 model year was the third generation Charger, characterized by the split grille and more rounded fuselage body style.
Most of the changes for the 1973 Dodge Charger were cosmetic that year and one stood out as a premium performance example and had the 400 cubic inch 4-barrel B series engine.
We have one of those 1973 Dodge Charger 400's here at Adventure Classics with the P code in the VIN verifying it came with that 400 4BBL 8 Cylinder B (High Performance) engine.
Engine & Drivetrain Ours has the original 400 cubic inch engine with a few upgrades as well.
It has a lot of factory stock equipment like the engine block, cast iron exhaust manifolds, power steering, and 4 wheel power disc brakes, but has performance additions like the Edelbrock aluminum Performance intake, 4-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock chrome open element air cleaner and chrome valve covers, Mopar Performance Ignition, red racing Spark Plug Wires, and MSD ignition parts.
All this power gets to the ground via the 727 Automatic Transmission shifted via the center console, and H.
D.
Chrysler rear end and gasses flow out the dual exhaust system to chrome tips out the rear.
Interior The interior looks great and is factory correct with its Rallye dash, pushbutton Am/Fm radio, center console, high-back black bucket seats that are comfortable with the matching rear seat, three spoke factory steering wheel, black carpet and floor mats.
This car was born with factory AC, however it has been deleted.
All the rest of the interior looks like it did when it left the showroom with the factory stock door panels, headliner, as well as the clean and stock looking trunk with it's trunk mat.
Exterior The Charger is known for the Coke-bottle profile and will always be regarded as one of the most beautiful of its era, and ours has the bright red paint scheme with the offsetting black tail stripe, enlarged rear quarter-window with the specially designed rear triple opera window, taillights with vertical slats, and rides on chrome 5-spoke mag wheels and raised white letter BF Goodrich Radial TA performance tires.
Conclusion The 1973 Dodge Charger we have at Adventure Classics is a great example of how Dodge Chargers were modified back in the day to outperform the other brands of muscle cars.
Ours has done that and done it well.
It is very powerful and fast, and also well-built and dependable for cruises and trips to the track.
