Vehicle Description 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Car History The 1962 model year ended up being the last model of that era before the much talked about second-generation Corvette was to debut in 1963.
In the last ten years, with brilliant engineers and designers like Edward Cole, Zora Arkus-Duntov and Bill Mitchell, the 1962 C1 Corvette had become an American Sports Car Classic.
The driver quality 1962 Chevrolet Corvette we have here at Adventure Classics is a great example Corvette for that year with a great color combo of red with black interior and tan convertible top, with only 85000 actual miles.
Engine & Drivetrain The big news for the 1962 Corvette was the introduction of the 327 cubic inch V-8 engine (one of the best engines made by any auto maker that year) in place of the smaller 283 cubic inch engine.
Ours has been replaced with the same era of 327 with a block code of #3858180 which we believe is a 1964-1967 casting.
Those 327 cubic inch engines produced more horsepower and torque and were far better than anything seen prior with either a carburetor or fuel injection.
Our 327 small block Chevy engine looks like it has most of the original factory components such as the chrome open-element air cleaner, aluminum Corvette script valve covers, cast iron intake, four-barrel carb, factory cast-iron exhaust headers, and sits in the factory looking engine compartment and backed by a four-speed manual optional transmission.
Interior The black leather twin bucket seat interior is in need of a restoration but, like the engine, looks to have a lot of originality with correct trim, chrome, black carpet, black/chrome large sport steering wheel, and floor shifter and clock looking like they should.
The door panels, grab handle, rear view mirror, dash with all the factory gauges, clock and radio, floor mats, and seatbelts, are also there.
Exterior The 1962 Corvette has a red paint job on its iconic Corvette body and that shows its styling that is accented by the chrome front and rear bumpers, front chrome grill, side lower trim on the side coves, tan convertible top, and chrome factory Chevrolet hubcaps with spinners on red line tires.
This 1962 Corvette will make a great basis for the restoration you choose to do to make it a nice street driven Corvette or an NCRS show stopper, the choice will be yours.
Conclusion The 1962 Corvette was the fastest and best handling Corvette made to date and to some it was the pinnacle of Corvettes in that era and beyond.
This C1 1962 Corvette we have here at Adventure Classics is your chance to buy a first generation Corvette you can drive and enjoy today, and restore when you want.
